Developed by the Special Devices Center of the Office of Naval Research and manufactured by J.H. Keeney & Co. of Chicago, this extraordinary 95-inch demonstration model was built as an oversize teaching example of the 1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). Designed for classroom and museum use, the model opens up the weapon’s internals—clearly showing the bolt-open operation, feed components, and other moving parts—so instructors could explain how the BAR functions without handling a live firearm. Extremely rare today, these oversized BAR demonstrators are prized by collectors, museums, and reenactors for the unique window they provide into small-arms design and training history.
