 Some History

The Mk 2 hand grenade or "Pineapple Grenade" (initially known as the Mk II) is a fragmentation type anti-personnel hand grenade introduced by the U.S. armed forces in 1918. It probably is the most recognizable grenade made by the U.S.  It was the standard issue anti-personnel grenade used during World War II and in later conflicts, including the Vietnam War. It replaced the failed Mk 1 grenade of 1917 and was standardized in 1920 as the Mk II.  It was re-designated the Mk 2 on April 2, 1945.  During its production throughout the years, there were some differences in its color and body appearances.

The Mk 2 was replaced by the M26-series and later M33 series gradually being phased out in service beginning with the Korean War. Due to the tremendous quantity manufactured during World War II, it was in limited standard issue with the US Army and US Marine Corps throughout the 1950's.

Product Description

Marshall's Arsenal Replica Dummy Early WWII Yellow MK 2A1 (solid bottom) hand grenade is a faithful 2-piece replica (separate body and fuse that can be super glued tight) that is made of solid colored resin plastic.  It has a solid bottom, correct style WWII M10A2 fuse, red washer and a correct WWII type reproduction metal spoon and pull ring pin.

M.A. offers 2 different color variants that were common with these Early War Grenades: a light Yellow and a Yellow/Orange.  Both colors can be found on original grenades.

For an even more authentic look, M.A. offers both color variants "Aged".  All M.A. grenades can also be used with a variety of explosive fuses or adapters.

**This Pre-War/Early War type grenade was cast from a 1942 MK 2A1 solid bottom original grenade.

A complete grenade weigh 8 oz and although they are light weight, they are NOT intended to be thrown in reenacting events.  These are ideal for costume designers, professional reenactors, cosplay enthusiasts or museum displays, where the real thing is prohibited by law, too valuable or too heavy to use.  These are a great affordable reenactment gear item and look great on straps, belts, pouches, adapters and displays.

** Grenades and fuses are solid plastic and cannot be made into any functioning grenade.
