Product Description

These Marshall’s Arsenal AK-47 replica magazines are molded from original examples to reproduce the subtle details that make a display convincing. Each magazine is cast in solid, durable plastic and finished to match the visual character of the original — while remaining completely inert and non-operational.

  • Russian (Izhevsk) style: slightly softer, more rounded ribs with rougher machining marks at the top and two distinct spine stamps — faithful to the look of Izhevsk production magazines.

  • East German style: crisp, well-defined ribs with distinctive equidistant spot-weld marks along the spine and a deep blued appearance reminiscent of East German finish work.

Perfect for costume designers, reenactors, prop houses, cosplayers, museums, and film productions that require historically accurate appearance without the legal or safety issues of real magazines. An affordable, safe alternative for display and impression work.

Historical Background

The AK-47, officially designated Avtomat Kalashnikova, is a gas-operated 7.62×39mm assault rifle developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov. The designation “47” refers to the year the design was completed — 1947. In early 1949, the AK-47 was officially adopted by the Soviet Armed Forces and soon became the standard service rifle of Warsaw Pact nations.

Renowned for its reliability under extreme conditions, low production cost, and ease of operation, the AK-47 and its countless variants have remained in service for over seven decades — making it the most widely used rifle in the world. Its simple yet robust design has led to licensed and unlicensed production in dozens of countries across nearly every continent.

East Germany received a production license from the Soviet Union in 1957, beginning domestic manufacturing in 1959. East German 30-round magazines were of the first European ribbed type and quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional craftsmanship and deep salt-blued finish, distinguishing them from other Warsaw Pact models.
