Historical Background

Ammunition was commonly issued in 6 pocket cloth bandoliers, each pocket holding 2 - 10 round striper clips of ammo. Those rounds were kept in a simple but important component: a folded cardboard insert.

These inserts provided structure, prevented cartridge tips poking through the thin cloth, and protected ammunition during transport. They also allowed bandoliers to stack efficiently in ammunition cans and crates.

During the early Cold War and Vietnam War era, millions of these bandoliers were produced. Over time, original inserts were discarded, damaged, or deteriorated — making accurate reproductions an essential detail for collectors and historically correct impressions.

Marshall’s Arsenal reproductions bring that missing detail back to life.
