Historical Background
After replacing the M1 Garand in 1957, the M14 rifle became the primary U.S. service rifle during the early Cold War and into the Vietnam War.
7.62×51mm NATO ammunition was commonly issued in cloth bandoliers containing six pockets. Each pocket typically held two 5-round stripper clips (10 rounds per pocket), for a total of 60 rounds per bandolier. Soldiers used a clip guide attached to their magazine to rapidly load 20-round M14 magazines in the field.
Today, original loaded bandoliers are scarce and expensive and not always legal and safe — making accurate reproductions an essential component of authentic Vietnam-era displays.
