During World War II, the M1 Garand bandoleer was a standard issue ammunition carrier used by U.S. infantrymen to hold .30-06 cartridges preloaded in eight-round en bloc clips for the M1 Garand rifle. Each cotton bandoleer typically carried six pockets, each containing one clip — a total of 48 rounds. The bandoleer was lightweight, disposable, and designed for quick reloading in the field.

Soldiers often slung it over their shoulder or pinned the strap to their jacket with a safety pin to keep it from slipping during movement.
